Enciende Una Luz, Igniting One Light, is a day care in Limón, where at-risk kids receive meals, help with homework, and Bible study. When children graduate from the malnutrition recovery program, they begin attending the day care.  Many children in the program come from single parent households, and would be left home alone, or wandering the streets without supervision. The day care program gives them the support they need to succeed in school, as well as teaching them life skills and a Christian education.

Tortisuave, the tortilla factory in Limón, employs people from the community, particularly single moms, who would otherwise have to leave the community for work.  The employees children attend the on-site Day Care (Enciende Una Luz), where they receive meals, help with homework, and Bible study.

The tortillas made here are used in the Day Care and the Nutrition Clinic, and are sold both locally and around the region.

 Clinica de Nutición Infantil, the Children’s Nutrition Clinic, provides recovery support for children suffering from severe malnutrition.
